  • The collaboration focuses on ESG reporting using UL Solutions’ ULTRUS software, aligned with Japan’s Sustainability Standards Board (SSBJ).

UL Solutions (ULS), a leader in applied safety science, has announced a strategic partnership with Fujitsu, a prominent Japanese IT services provider, to help Japanese companies comply with the newly developed climate reporting standards. The collaboration aims to enhance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting through UL Solutions’ ULTRUS software platform, which streamlines regulatory, supply chain, and sustainability management.

The Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) recently introduced new climate disclosure standards, aligned with the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation’s International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). These standards, currently available for voluntary application, are expected to become mandatory by 2027, reflecting the global trend towards more comprehensive ESG accountability.

Fujitsu will utilize UL Solutions’ UL 360 ESG data management software to help its clients navigate these evolving requirements. Hidehiko Yamajo, UL Solutions’ Regional Vice President, stated that strong ESG reporting is now a core necessity for long-term business success in Japan. This partnership is a strategic move to help companies manage their data, meet reporting requirements, and create business value.

Fujitsu’s Hidenori Ito expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the integration of AI and blockchain technology to promote data-driven sustainability management. This initiative is part of Fujitsu’s broader business model, Fujitsu Uvance, which focuses on addressing social issues and maximizing corporate value through sustainability.

UL Solutions continues to offer a comprehensive suite of enterprise sustainability services, including environmental product declarations and zero-waste-to-landfill claim validations. The ULTRUS platform, recognized by Verdantix as a leader in ESG and Sustainability Reporting Software, provides effective tools for companies to navigate complex reporting regulations and compliance challenges globally.
