The deal is the largest in the energy sector since Diamondback ‘s $26 billion acquisition of Endeavor Energy Resources in 2024, which Goldman also had a small hand in . Goldman’s role in the Coterra-Devon merger is a boon for its investment banking business, which accounted for 15% of overall revenue last year.
