According to the Financial Times, Apple is encountering difficulties in upgrading its AI voice assistant, Siri. Concerns arise ahead of the company’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, as investors remain pessimistic about any significant AI announcements. Former Apple employees revealed that the company is facing technical challenges while trying to enhance Siri’s understanding and response capabilities using advanced large language models.
Ex-executives pointed out that integrating new functionalities into Siri’s existing architecture has led to numerous bugs. Unlike competitors like OpenAI, who are building generative AI voice assistants from scratch, Apple’s incremental development approach may not lead to groundbreaking advancements.
