Tesla (TSLA) Seeks to Protect Confidential Robotaxi Project Details

Tesla (TSLA, Financial) is attempting to prevent the city government of Austin, Texas, from disclosing information related to its autonomous taxi (Robotaxi) project to the media. Tesla plans to launch a paid autonomous taxi service on Austin roads this month. In February, Reuters filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act for communications between Austin officials and Tesla over the past two years. Austin city officials noted that a third party requested confidentiality to protect privacy and commercial interests. On April 16, Tesla’s legal team opposed the release of documents, citing the inclusion of confidential, proprietary, and commercially sensitive information. They argued that disclosure could cause irreparable harm to Tesla, affecting its deployment processes and strategies for autonomous vehicles.
