Boeing’s CEO, Kelly Ortberg, stated that launching a new model to replace the best-selling Boeing 737 Max is not a priority. He explained that the market is not ready for a new model, and Boeing currently lacks the financial capacity to invest in new aircraft development.
Ortberg mentioned that Boeing is collaborating with the Trump administration and disclosed that the company spends less than $500 million annually on importing necessary components for manufacturing from the U.S.
Despite geopolitical tensions, Ortberg remains confident that Boeing’s plans for a profitable year will not be delayed. Previously, financial issues, production quality control crises, and strikes led Boeing to announce a global layoff of 17,000 employees, about 10% of its workforce, in October 2024.
