Randstad NV, the world’s largest human resources service provider, believes that Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House could positively influence the US job market. CEO Sander Van’t Noordende, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, noted optimism around deregulation, growth, innovation, new technologies, and increased confidence. These factors could lead to more hiring if economic growth and confidence rise.

It is widely expected that a new Trump presidency might ease regulations and introduce business-friendly tax policies. However, issues like immigration and deportation remain uncertain. Van’t Noordende highlighted that a key indicator of Trump’s policy impact would be the stock market’s performance, predicting a positive influence.

In contrast, the European market faces challenges, with companies reducing recruitment budgets amid increasing uncertainty. UK-based recruitment firm PageGroup recently lowered its profit forecasts due to worsening conditions in its major markets, France and Germany.

Despite these challenges, Randstad NV reported that employees are not lowering their expectations. The company’s survey of over 26,000 employees across 35 markets in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas found that work-life balance is now more important than compensation. Van’t Noordende mentioned a stagnation in the labor market, with declining hiring and vacancy rates. Employees are seeking more support from current employers rather than switching jobs for higher pay.

Randstad NV also noted increased employee confidence, with many willing to act if their demands are unmet. The report indicated that 44% of respondents resigned due to poor work environments, a 33% increase from the previous year.
