Southwest Airlines (LUV) Announces New CFO Appointment

Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV, Financial) has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Tom Doxey as the new Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, effective March 10, 2025. This decision follows the unanimous election by the company’s Board of Directors, marking a strategic move in the company’s financial leadership.

Tom Doxey, aged 45, brings a wealth of experience in the aviation industry to his new role. He previously served as President of Breeze Airways from 2022 to 2024 and held senior positions at United Airlines, including Senior Vice President of Technical Operations and CFO of Operations. His career in aviation began with financial planning and fleet management roles at Allegiant Air and US Airways.

In conjunction with his appointment, the Compensation Committee of the Board has approved an annual base salary of $575,000 for Mr. Doxey, along with an annual target cash short-term incentive compensation opportunity of $776,250, prorated for 2025. Additionally, Mr. Doxey will receive equity-based and incentive awards for the 2025 year, which are expected to be granted in March 2025.

Mr. Doxey will also enter into the company’s standard change-in-control agreement, as outlined in the company’s proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Notably, Mr. Doxey does not have any relationships or transactions requiring disclosure under relevant regulations, nor is he a party to any arrangement or understanding with any other person pursuant to which he was selected as an officer of the company.

This leadership transition is part of Southwest Airlines’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its executive team and enhance its financial strategy. The company issued a press release on February 10, 2025, to announce Mr. Doxey’s appointment, underscoring its commitment to maintaining transparency and effective communication with stakeholders.
