Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TORXF) has unveiled its 2024 Responsible Gold Mining Report, titled “Building from Strength,” marking the company’s tenth annual disclosure. As Mexico’s largest gold producer, Torex Gold emphasized key achievements, including full conformance with the World Gold Council’s Responsible Gold Mining Principles and the International Cyanide Management Code. The report highlights zero reportable environmental incidents and significant local engagement, with 99% of employees hailing from Mexico.

In addition to its environmental and social achievements, Torex Gold invested $3.5 million in community development and infrastructure projects within its host communities. An impressive 92% of procurement expenditures, amounting to $929 million, were spent within Mexico, reflecting the company’s commitment to local economic impact.

However, 2024 was overshadowed by tragedy, with two separate workplace incidents resulting in the deaths of two employees and two contractor employees. The company’s President & CEO, Jody Kuzenko, expressed a strong resolve to enhance safety protocols and reestablish Torex Gold’s reputation as a leader in safety within the industry.

Key environmental performance metrics for 2024 include a 58% recycling rate of water usage and a 60% recycling rate of non-mineral waste. The report aligns with GRI Standards, SASB Mining Standards, and TCFD recommendations, underscoring Torex Gold’s commitment to sustainability and responsible mining practices.
